ตำบลคลองแห ต่อมาในปี 2538 กระทรวงมหาดไทย ได้ประกาศเป็นองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล และตำบลคลองแหเจริญรุ่งเรืองตามลำดับ ในปี 2546 จึงได้มีพระราชกฤษฎีกายกฐานะองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลเป็นเทศบาลเทศบาลตำบลคลอง แห ต่อมา เทศบาลแห่งนี้มีประชากรเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วตามการขยายตัวของเศรษฐกิจ และมีฐานะการคลังเพียงพอที่จะบริหารกิจการ กระทรวงมหาดไทยได้มีประกาศเปลี่ยนแปลงฐานะเทศบาลแห่งนี้เป็น เทศบาลเมืองคลองแหโดยให้มีผลนับตั้งแต่วันนี้ คือ วันที่ 1 สิงหาคม 2550 เป็นต้นไป
