AVIATION หมายถึง การบิน หรือ การขนส่งทางอากาศ เป็นการลำเลียง คน สัตว์ และสิ่งของ จากที่หนึ่งไปยังที่หนึ่ง โดยใช้ยานพาหนะเคลื่อนที่ไปในอากาศ (การขนส่งทางอากาศเริ่มจากเครื่องร่อน บอลลูน เรือเหาะ และในปัจจุบันใช้เครื่องบิน)

การปฏิบัติในการขนส่งทางอากาศโดยทั่วไป ทำโดยผู้ส่งสินค้าทำสัญญาขนส่งกับผู้ขนส่งสินค้า และผู้ขนส่งสินค้าจะรับภาระหน้าที่ในการขนส่งให้เสร็จถึงผู้รับสินค้า ผู้ขนส่งอาจเป็นได้ทั้งบริษัทสายการบิน หรือบริษัทขนส่งระหว่างประเทศ
