ต่อมา พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวพระราชทานพระราชดำริเพิ่มเติมในโอกาสต่างๆ อย่างต่อเนื่องจนถึงปัจจุบัน ซึ่ง สำนักงาน กปร. รวบรวมได้ 30 ครั้ง โดยในระยะแรกหน่วยงานต่างๆ ได้ศึกษาดำเนินงานพัฒนาและรณรงค์การใช้หญ้าแฝก อาทิ กรมพัฒนาที่ดิน กรมป่าไม้ โครงการพัฒนาดอยตุง (พื้นที่ทรงงาน) อันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ องค์การสวนพฤกษศาสตร์ และสำนักงาน กปร. ปัจจุบันมีหน่วยงานมากกว่า 50 หน่วยงาน ดำเนินงานสนองพระราชดำริการพัฒนาและรณรงค์การใช้หญ้าแฝก ส่งผลให้การดำเนินงานก้าวหน้ามากขึ้นตามลำดับ

สำนักงานคณะกรรมการพิเศษเพื่อประสานงานโครงการอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ (สำนักงาน กปร.) ได้รวบรวมพระราชดำรัสและพระราชดำริเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาและรณรงค์การใช้หญ้าแฝกอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ เริ่มแรกนับแต่วันที่ 22 มิถุนายน 2534 จนถึงปัจจุบัน (สิงหาคม 2548) ดังนี้

พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวได้พระราชทานพระราชดำริแก่ นายสุเมธ ตันติเวชกุล เลขาธิการ กปร. ณ สวนจิตรลดา และ ณ วังไกลกังวล อำเภอหัวหิน จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ สรุปดังนี้

ให้ศึกษาทดลองการปลูกหญ้าแฝกเพื่อป้องกันการพังทลายของดินในพื้นที่ของศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาฯ และพื้นที่อื่นๆ ที่เหมาะสมอย่างกว้างขวาง โดยเฉพาะศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาห้วยทราย อันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ และศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาเขาหินซ้อนอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ
การดำเนินการศึกษาทดลองการปลูกหญ้าแฝกให้พิจารณาลักษณะของภูมิประเทศ ซึ่งแบ่งได้ 2 ลักษณะของพื้นที่ ดังนี้
การปลูกหญ้าแฝกบนพื้นที่ภูเขาให้ปลูกหญ้าแฝกตามแนวขวางของความลาดชัน และในร่องน้ำของภูเขาเพื่อป้องกันการพังทลายของหน้าดินและช่วยเก็บความชื้นในดินไว้ด้วย
การปลูกหญ้าแฝกบนพื้นที่ราบให้ดำเนินการในลักษณะ ดังนี้
- ปลูกโดยรอบแปลง
- ปลูกในแปลงๆ ละ 1 หรือ 2 แนว
- สำหรับแปลงพืชไร่ให้ปลูกตามร่องสลับกับพืชไร่
ผลของการศึกษาทดลอง ควรเก็บข้อมูลทั้งทางด้านการเจริญเติบโตของลำต้นและรากความสามารถในการอนุรักษ์ความสมบูรณ์ของดินและการเก็บความชื้นในดินและเรื่องพันธุ์หญ้าต่างๆ ด้วย
