การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาสาเหตุที่ส่งผลต่อผลสัมฤทธิ์ในการสอบวัดความรู้ด้านวิชาการในรายวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ ของนิสิตสาขาภาษาอังกฤษ ชั้นปีที่ 4 ปีการศึกษา 2558 วิทยาลัยการศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา กลุ่มเป้าหมายเป็นนิสิตสาขาภาษาอังกฤษ ชั้นปีที่ 4 ปีการศึกษา 2558 วิทยาลัยการศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา จำนวน 106 คน การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา (Content Analysis) การสังเคราะห์ข้อมูล (Synthesis) และสถิติการหาค่าร้อยละ (Percentage) ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ แบบสอบถามความคิดเห็น จากผลการวิจัยพบว่าสาเหตุหลักที่ส่งผลต่อผลการสอบวัความรู้ด้านวิชาการในรายวิชาภาษาอังกฤษเกิดจาก ตัวผู้เข้าสอบ ระยะเวลาในการสอบ และข้อสอบ โดยพบว่ากลุ่มเป้าหมายส่วนใหญ่ยังขาดทักษะและความรู้พื้นฐานด้านภาษาอังกฤษ และไม่ได้มีการเตรียมตัวก่อนการสอบ จึงส่งผลให้ผู้เข้าสอบทำข้อสอบไม่ได้และรู้สึกว่าข้อสอบมีความยาก และมีจำนวนที่มากจนเกินไป เมื่อเทียบกับระยะเวลาที่ให้ในการทำข้อสอบและระยะเวลาสำหรับการเตรียมตัวก่อนการสอบ
