ล่องสะเปา  เป็นประเพณีดั้งเดิมของจังหวัดลำปาง ซึ่งคล้ายกับประเพณีลอยกระทงของเมืองไทย การล่องสะเปา เป็นวัฒนธรรมอันเก่าแก่ที่ทีเฉพาจังหวัดลำปาง

ล่องสะเปาเป็นภาษาพื้นเมือง  หมายถึง การนำเรือสำเภาลอยไปตามลำน้ำ ส่วนคำว่า จาวละกอน นั้นก็หมายถึง ชาวลำปาง
