การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์คือ ๑

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์คือ ๑. เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยลักษณะส่วนบุคคลของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม ๒. เพื่อศึกษาความคิดเห็นของนักท่องเที่ยวต่อการจัดการการท่องเที่ยวของวัดหนองแวง (พระอารามหลวง) อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดขอนแก่น ๓. เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบความคิดเห็นของนักท่องเที่ยวต่อการจัดการการท่องเที่ยวเชิงพุทธของวัดหนองแวง (พระอารามหลวง) อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดขอนแก่น ๔. เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการพัฒนาการจัดการการท่องเที่ยวเชิงพุทธของวัดหนองแวง (พระอารามหลวง) อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดขอนแก่น การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบผสม (Mixed Method) โดยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ (Quantitative Research) ซึ่งเป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ (Survey Research) และการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-Depth Interview) กับผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ (Key Informants) ภายในวัดหนองแวง (พระอารามหลวง) กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ได้แก่ นักท่องเที่ยวที่เดินทางเข้ามาเที่ยวชมวัดหนองแวง (พระอารามหลวง) อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดขอนแก่น จำนวน ๓๘๒ คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูลคือแบบสอบถามที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้นเอง โดยมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นทั้งฉบับเท่ากับ ๐.๙๕๓ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูปทางสังคมศาสตร์ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลคือ ค่าความถี่ (Frequency) ค่าร้อยละ (Percentage) ค่าเฉลี่ย (X) ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (S.D.) การทดสอบ (t-test) และการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนทางเดียว (One way analysis of variance) และเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างของค่าเฉลี่ยเป็นรายคู่โดยวิธีผลต่างนัยสำคัญที่น้อยที่สุด (Least Significant Difference: LSD.)
