ในส่วนของ "เสาหลักด้านเศรษฐกิจ" นั้

ในส่วนของ "เสาหลักด้านเศรษฐกิจ" นั้น ประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนจะต้องเป็น "ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน" อย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ โดยมีการกำหนด "พิมพ์เขียว" หรือ AEC Blueprint ในวันที่ 22 พฤศจิกายน 2550 ที่ประเทศสิงคโปร์ เพื่อให้ประเทศสมาชิกอาซียนใช้เป็นพันธกรณีที่จะต้องปฏิบัติร่วมกันตามกรอบ เวลาที่กำหนด มีสาระสำคัญประกอบไปด้วย 3 ส่วนสำคัญ คือ
