สำนักงานพลังงานจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ได้จัดทำโครงการส่งเสริมการใช้พลังงานทดแทนมาช่วยลดต้นทุนในการผลิตทางภาคประมงและเกษตร อีกทั้งโครงเสริมสร้างศักยภาพในการผลิตทางการเกษตรโดยใช้กังหันลมสูบน้ำ ซึ่งจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชมีความพร้อมสำหรับโครงการต่างๆ ในส่วนพื้นที่หัวไทร ก็จะดำเนินการในโครงการคลองชะอวดแพรกเมือง ซึ่งเป็นโครงการอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ และเพื่อดำเนินการพัฒนาพลังงานสะอาด และเป็นการเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช เนื่องในวโรกาสทรงมีพระชนมายุครบ ๘๗ พรรษา ในปี พ.ศ.๒๕๕๗ และทรงเป็น"พระบิดาพลังงานไทย" อีกทั้งยังเป็นต้นแบบให้ประชาชนในจังหวัดได้ศึกษาข้อมูลต่อไป
