เพื่อนรัก นานแค่ไหนแล้วนะที่เราไม่ได้เขียนจดหมายมาถึงเพื่อน มันคงจะนานพอดูเลยทีเดียวถ้าเรามาใช้เวลาเป็นตัวนับระยะทาง แต่การที่เราหายหน้าไปจากหน้ากระดาษก็ใช่ว่าเราจะไม่ติดตามข่าวสารหรือความเคลื่อนไหวของเพื่อนหรือลืมเพื่อน เรารับรู้เรื่องราวของเพื่อนผ่านสื่อต่างๆในโลกออนไลน์อยู่เสมอ เพียงแต่เราไม่ถนัดมากนักในการใช้สื่อเหล่านั้น เรามีสังคมออนไลน์แบบเดียวกับที่คนมากกว่าครึ่งโลกใช้กัน เราสมัครทุกอย่างที่มีให้ใช้ เพียงแต่เรารู้ตัวของเราเองดีว่า เราไม่ถนัดที่จะใช้สื่อออนไลน์ในการติดต่อกับเพื่อน

นานๆสักครั้งเราถึงจะเข้าไปดูเรื่องราวหรือรูปภาพของเพื่อน ผ่านสังคมออนไลน์ ทั้งของเพื่อนเองและของคนอื่นๆที่อยู่รอบๆข้างเรา จนในที่สุดเราก็ทนความคิดถึงเพื่อนไม่ได้ เราจึงต้องลงมานั่งพิมพ์จดหมายฉบับนี้ส่งมาให้เพื่อนได้อ่าน เพื่อที่เพื่อนจะได้รับรู้ว่า เรายังคิดถึงเพื่อนอยู่เสมอ เราคิดถึงโดยที่ไม่ต้องไปเขียนบอกไว้ในสื่อหรือสังคมออนไลน์ของเพื่อน เราเขียนมาให้เพื่อนได้อ่าน เราเขียนเพื่อเพื่อนจริงๆโดยไม่มีสิ่งใดแอบแฝง ไม่ต้องการ ไลท์ หรือ คอมเมนท์ใดๆ มากมายเกินไปกว่าจดหมายตอบของเพื่อน ถึงแม้ว่าการเขียนจดหมายจะดูเชยๆไปบ้างในโลกทุกวันนี้ แต่เราก็ยินดีที่ใครต่อใครจะมองว่าเราเป็นคนที่ล้าสมัย

เราไม่ได้หวังว่าเพื่อนจะตอบจดหมายของเรา เราหวังเพียงแค่ว่า อยากให้เพื่อนได้อ่าน ส่วนหลังจากนี้จะเป็นอย่างไรนั้นก็คงต้องปล่อยไปตามที่เพื่อนจะเห็นสมควร จะตอบจดหมาย หรือจะลืมมันไป หรือจะย้ายเราไปอยู่ในกลุ่มของคนล้าหลังอย่างที่สังคมทุกวันนี้มองก็ตามแต่ความเหมาะสม

เราอยากจะเล่าเรื่องที่เราได้เจอให้เพื่อนได้อ่านมากมายหลายเรื่อง กลัวแต่ว่าเพื่อนจะไม่ยินดีที่จะอ่านจดหมายของเรา เราจึงไม่กล้าที่จะเล่าเรื่องราวมากมายเกินไปกว่าที่จะบอกเพื่อนว่า "เราคิดถึง" เราไม่กล้าที่จะใช้โทรศัพท์ไปตามเบอร์ที่เพื่อนให้ไว้ด้วยความกลัวว่าจะโทรไปผิดเวลาและรบกวนเพื่อนในเวลาที่เพื่อนทำงานอยู่ เพราะในสื่อสังคมออนไลน์ต่างๆ เราเห็นว่าเพื่อนเหนื่อยเหลือเกินกับหน้าที่การงานและชีวิตประจำวัน จนบางครั้งเรารู้สึกเกรงใจเพื่อนมากๆแม้แต่ในยามที่เราคิดถึงเพื่อน
