โดยกรมสามัญศึกษา ได้รับบริจาคที่ดิน จากนายผาสุก และนางเง็ก มณีจักร สองสามีภรรยา คหบดีชาวอำเภอปากเกร็ด ที่มีความประสงค์ให้สร้างโรงเรียนในเครือสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย บนพื้นที่ดังกล่าว จึงเกิดการประสานงานจัดตั้งขึ้น เมื่อวันที่ 30 มีนาคมพ.ศ. 2521 เดิมให้ชื่อไว้ว่า “โรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย ๒ (ผาสุก มณีจักร)” และมอบหมายให้ผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย รักษาราชการในตำแหน่งอาจารย์ใหญ่ของโรงเรียน จนถึงปลายปีถัดมา จึงเปลี่ยนชื่อโรงเรียน เป็นชื่อที่ใช้อยู่ในปัจจุบัน
