บทคัดย่อ
งานวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแนวทางในการเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยามผู้สูงอายุ โดยใช้กลุ่มตัวอย่างจากผู้สูงอายุในจังหวัดปัตตานี ซึ่งตัวแปรที่นำมาพิจารณา ได้แก่ อายุ เพศ สถานภาพสมรส การศึกษา เขตที่อยู่อาศัย และตัวแปรตามได้แก่ การเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยามผู้สูงอายุในจังหวัดปัตตานี โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เป็นเครื่องมือ ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1.) กลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่ จะให้คำนิยามผู้สูงอายุไม่แตกต่างกัน คือ เป็นคนแก่ ที่มีอายุมาก มีประสบการณ์เยอะ อยู่ในช่วงระยะสุดท้ายของชีวิต ร่างกายมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงต้องการได้รับความเอาใจใส่จากบุตรหลานมากขึ้น 2.) กลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่ ให้ความหมายของ คำว่า คนแก่ คนชรา ผู้เฒ่า ผู้สูงอายุ และผู้อาวุโส ว่า มีความหมายเหมือนกัน ยกเว้น คำว่า ผู้อาวุโส เป็นบุคคลที่มีความรู้ ความน่าเชื่อถือ อายุอาจจะยังไม่เยอะก็ได้ 3.) บุคคลที่มีอายุ 60 ปี เหมาะสมกับคำว่า ผู้สูงอายุ เพราะ ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างในร่างกายเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปไม่เหมือนเดิม ทั้งด้านร่างกาย และสติปัญญา ถึงแม้ว่า บางท่านหน้าตายังอ่อนเยาว์อยู่ก็ตาม และผู้ชายกับผู้หญิงก็มีความแตกต่างกัน เช่น เมื่อถึงวัย 60 ปี ผู้ชายจะมีร่างกายที่แข็งแรงกว่าผู้หญิง เพราะผู้หญิง ต้องคลอดลูก เลี้ยงลูก และต้องปรนนิบัติต่อสามี ทำให้ร่างกายอ่อนล้า ในความคิดของผู้ชายที่อยู่ในชนบท ส่วนผู้หญิงในชนบทก็มองว่า ผู้ชายมีความแข็งแรงมากกว่าผู้หญิง เช่นกัน แต่ ผู้ชายเมื่อถึงวัย 60 ปี หรือหลังเกษียณอายุแล้ว จะไม่ค่อยทำงาน ชอบเข้าสังคมมากกว่าการที่จะช่วยผู้หญิงทำงานบ้านต่าง ๆ เช่น นั่งคุยกันที่ร้านน้ำชา เลี้ยงนก แข่งนกเพื่อความเพลิดเพลิน ต่างจากผู้หญิงที่ต้องทำหน้าที่แม่บ้านเหมือนเดิม ส่วนคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตเมืองก็มีความแตกต่างกับคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตชนบท เพราะ คนในเมืองจะใช่ชีวิตแบบต่างคนต่างอยู่ สุขภาพร่างกายไม่ค่อยแข็งแรง ต่างกับคนชนบท ที่มีสุขภาพร่างกายแข็งแรงกว่า มีอากาศบริสุทธิ์กว่า มีความรักสามัคคีกัน และชอบช่วยเหลือกัน ทั้งนี้แล้ว บางท่านกล่าวว่า ขึ้นอยู่กับมุมมองแต่ละบุคคลที่จะมองตนเองในอย่างไร และมองผู้อื่นอย่างไร 4.) ควรจะต้องแยกนิยามผู้สูงอายุ ออกจากนิยามเกษียณ หรือ อายุที่ได้รับสวัสดิการ เพราะปกติก็แยกกันอยู่แล้ว 5.) ควรจะต้องมีนิยามผู้สูงอายุ เพราะ จะได้เป็นเกณฑ์ในการกำหนดว่า อายุระดับใดควรจะได้รับสวัสดิการ และอายุระดับใด ที่ยังสามารถทำงานเลี้ยงดูตนเองได้อยู่ 6.) หากมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยามผู้สูงอายุ ก็ควรที่จะกำหนดอายุที่ 65 ปี เพราะบางอาชีพสามารถทำงานได้มากกว่าอายุ 60 ปี และบางคนมองว่า อายุ 60 ปีก็ยังแข็งแรงอยู่ สามารถแบ่งเบาภาระจากบุตรหลานได้อีก 7.) นอกจากกำหนดด้วยอายุแล้ว สุขภาพเป็นส่วนสำคัญในการกำหนดวัยผู้สูงอายุด้วย เพราะบางคน อายุไปก่อนหน้าตา หมายถึงอายุเยอะแล้ว แต่ไม่มีโรคภัย สุขภาพแข็งแรง ออกกำลังบ่อยๆ ทำให้มีสุขภาพจิตที่ดี ร่างกายก็เลยแข็งแรงตามไปด้วย แต่บางคนมีโรคภัยไข้เจ็บ ความดันโลหิต เบาหวาน โรคประจำตัวต่าง ฯลฯ ยังไม่ทันได้เกษียณอายุ ร่างกายก็อ่อนแอแล้ว 8.) สุขภาพดี จะต้องพิจารณาจาก การไม่มีโรคประจำตัว ออกกำลังกายเป็นประจำ และหลีกเลี่ยงจากอบายมุข สิ่งมึนเมาต่างๆ เป็นต้น 9.) ผลกระทบต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยามผู้สูงอายุ ส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นไปในด้านบวก เช่น เด็ก หรือ ผู้ที่มีอายุน้อยกว่า จะแสดงความเคารพ กตัญญูรู้คุณ โดยไม่ต้องรอให้ถึงวัยสูงอายุ และเมื่อกำหนดให้อายุสูงขึ้น ทำให้รู้สึกว่า ตนเอง มีคุณค่า สามารถทำงาน สร้างรายได้ให้กับครอบครัวและสังคมได้ อีกทั้งยังทำให้มีสุขภาพจิตที่ดีขึ้น มีพลังในการทำงานที่ดี อีกด้วย 10.)เป็นไปไม่ได้ที่จะเปลี่ยนแปลงนิยามผู้สูงอายุให้สูงขึ้น เพราะกฎหมายกำหนดมาแล้ว เป็นเรื่องยากในการที่จะเปลี่ยนแปลงให้เป็นที่ยอมรับได้ในสังคม เช่น ถ้าหากเป็นข้าราชการ ก็เป็นต้องทำงานต่อไปอีก 5 ปี กว่าจะได้รับเงินบำเหน็จ บำนาญ หรือ รับเบี้ยยังชีพ สำหรับผู้สูงอายุทั่วไป บางท่านเห็นว่า อายุอาจจะไม่ถึงทันได้ใช้เงินก็เป็นไปได้
