Eighteen crosses derived from a common hot pepper restorerline (9955-15/AVPP9905) and 18 sweet pepper maintainer lineswere successfully developed, raised and backcrossed to the respec-tive sweet pepper parent to generate a total of 173 BC1F1plants(Table 1). A total of 411 test cross plants derived from 14 plants oftwo different BC1F1were successfully screened for the presence ofthe 870 bp fragment (CRF-S870marker) presumably associated withthe Rf-allele. These plants were tested for the fertility restorationphenotype (Table 2).
