พระพุทธรูปประจำนครหาดใหญ่ ประดิษฐาน ณ ยอดเขาคอหงส์ เป็นพระพุทธรูปที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในภาคใต้ สร้างขึ้นด้วยจิตศรัทธาของพุทธศาสนิกชนทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศ เพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติ เนื่องในวโรกาสที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ ทรงเจริญพระชนมพรรษา 72 พรรษา (พ.ศ. 2542) ออกแบบโดย ดร.ภิญโญ สุวรรณคีรี ศิลปินแห่งชาติ มีขนาด 19.90 เมตร หล่อด้วยทองเหลืองเนื้อดีอย่างวิจิตรงดงาม โดยได้รับพระราชทานนามจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราชว่า “พระพุทธมงคลมหาราช” ซึ่งหมายความว่า “ความเป็นสิริมงคลอันยิ่งใหญ่”
