ในปัจจุบันเชื้อโรคจำนวนมากที่แพร่กระจายอยู่รอบตัวเรา ซึ่งนับว่าเป็นปัญหาที่ยากต่อการควบคุมหรือป้องกัน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งโรคระบบทางเดินหายใจ ถือเป็นปัญหาสาธารณสุขมากที่สุดในปัจจุบัน ปัญหาเหล่านี้ทวีความรุนแรงมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ หากมีวิธีป้องกันตนเอง และครอบครัว ตามนโยบายของกระทรวงสาธารณสุขที่ว่า “กินร้อน ช้อนกลาง ล้างมือ’’ สบู่จากสมุนไพร อาศัย กระบวนการความคิดสร้างสรรค์อย่างเป็นระบบ กระบวนการกลุ่มร่วมแรงร่วมใจกันระหว่าง นักเรียน กับครู สร้างนวัตกรรมเพื่อให้เหมาะสมกับของสภาพแวดล้อมในท้องถิ่นมีอยู่ คือ การสร้างสบู่จากวัสดุธรรมชาติ ในท้องถิ่นที่หาได้ง่าย มีกลิ่นหอม แต่ให้ประสิทธิภาพเท่าสบู่ทั่วไป ไม่มีสารเคมีเจือปน และสามารถนำไปอาบน้ำขัดผิวด้วยสรรพคุณของส่วนผสมธรรมชาติสามารถนำไปล้างมือด้วยกลิ่นหอมอ่อนๆในสบู่ และยังสามารถทำเป็นของที่ระลึกได้ ด้วยรูปลักษณ์ที่ สวยงาม อีกอย่างในปัจจุบันคนส่วนใหญ่เริ่มหันมาสนใจในสมุนไพรมากขึ้น เราจะเห็นข้อแตกต่างระหว่างสบู่เคมีกับสบู่สมุนไพรได้อย่างชัดเจน เพราะจากการศึกษาพบว่าสบู่ที่ทำจากสารเคมีเมื่อใช้ไปนานๆจะทำให้มีสารเคมีตกค้างในร่างกายของเราแต่ไม่ทำให้ร่างกายปลอดภัย ต่างกับสมุนไพรซึ่งไม่มีโทษอย่างแน่นอนเพราะมาจากวัสดุธรรมชาติ หาได้เอง และที่สำคัญเราสามารถทำเองได้ด้วย จึงเป็นเหตุผลที่ทำให้พวกเราจัดทำโครงงานนี้ขึ้นมา
