2.ความหมายแคบลง(narrowing)การเปลี่ยนแปลงความหมายแบบนี้เป็นไปในทางตรงข้ามกับชนิดแรกก็คือ ความหมายลดขอบเขตลง
3.ความหมายส่อไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น (Amelioration) การเปลี่ยนแปลงความหมายชนิดนี้ก็มีลักษณะดังนี้คือ ความหมายเดิมของคำมีความหมายธรรมดาหรือดี แต่กลับเปลี่ยนไปมีความหมายไปในทางลบ แต่ต่อมาความหมายกลับเปลี่ยนไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น
