In this study, two data sources were used: interviews and documentation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six key informants, including two vice presidents, two environmental managers and two accounting directors of Company X and Company Y. Interview data was subsequently analyzed by using the method suggested by Miles and Huberman (1994), involving processes of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verifi cation. To further ground the study, background information on the companies and the industry was collected from annual reports and academic literature. In order to gain validity and greater confi dence in generalization, these fi ndings were used to construct a structured questionnaire
