ที่ผ่านมา กลุ่มฯ ได้เข้าพบตัวแทนกรมพัฒนาพลังงานทดแทนและอนุรักษ์พลังงาน (พพ.) แต่ก็ได้รับคำตอบเช่นเดิมว่า รัฐยกเลิกโครงการไปแล้ว ทำให้กลุ่มเกษตรกรที่ปลูกหญ้าเนเปียร์ตามนโยบายของภาครัฐ และทำตามคำแนะนำของ พพ.และมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ต้องเป็นผู้รับความเสียหายทั้งหมด โดยที่รัฐไม่ได้ยื่นมือเข้ามาช่วยแต่อย่างใด เพียงแต่ตอบว่ายกเลิกโครงการไปแล้วเท่านั้น ขณะที่เกษตรกรต้องสูญเสียรายได้ เพราะหากปลูกข้าวก็คงมีรายได้พออยู่พอกิน แต่ต้องมาเดือดร้อนเพราะนโยบายของภาครัฐ

พร้อมกันนี้ กลุ่มฯ ได้เดินทางไปหารือกับสถาบันวิจัยวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีแห่งประเทศไทย กระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี เพื่อขอให้หาแนวทางช่วยเหลือ เบื้องต้นทางกระทรวงวิทย์ฯ พร้อมเป็นที่ปรึกษาโครงการโรงไฟฟ้าหญ้าเนเปียให้ หากกลุ่มฯ ได้รับเงินสนับสนุนโครงการจากทางกระทรวงพลังงาน ที่จะจ่ายให้กับเอกชน ก็จะมาสนับสนุนวิสาหกิจชุมชน 20 ล้านบาทแทน โดยจะนำมาทำเองไม่ต้องผ่านเอกชน ซึ่งจะมีการรับรองโครงการและควบคุมโครงการโดยกระทรวงวิทย์ฯ ส่วนชาวบ้านมีความรู้เรื่องปลูกหญ้าเนเปียร์ก็จะร่วมกันทำ ซึ่งเชื่อว่าจะเป็นประโยชน์กับชุมชนมากกว่านำเงินให้เอกชนลงทุน
ในเดือนตุลาคมนี้ กลุ่มฯ จะทำหนังสือร้องเรียนไปยังกระทรวงพลังงาน เพื่อเร่งหาแนวทางช่วยเหลือ รวมทั้งจะเสนอทำโครงการดังกล่าวต่อไป โดยจะมีรายละเอียด แบบโครงการ และผลตอบแทน ซึ่งทางกระทรวงวิทย์ฯ จะเป็นผู้ออกแบบ และให้รายละเอียดดังกล่าว เพื่อเสนอไปยังกระทรวงพลังงาน
