สาเหตุของการปฏิวัติครั้งนี้ มีหลายสาเหตุสาเหตุที่สำคัญที่สุดก็คือ ความล่าช้าในการบริหารราชการแผ่นดิน พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงมีพระราชประสงค์จะฝึกข้าราชการในสภากรรมการองคมนตรีให้เรียนรู้วิธีการ ประชุม ปรึกษาแบบรัฐสภาเพื่อเตรียมการพระราชทานรัฐธรรมนูญ ก็ทำได้อย่างไม่มีผลเท่าไรนักพระราชบัญญติเทศบาลซึ่งจะเป็นรากฐานของการ ปกครองตนเองก็ยังไม่ได้ประกาศออกใช้ และข้อสุดท้ายคือ ร่างรัฐธรรมนูญที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงให้ผู้ชำนาญการร่างไว้เสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว ก็ยังไม่ได้พระราชทานแก่ประชาชน
การปฏิวัติการปกครองกระทำได้สำเร็จ พระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงพระราชทานรัฐธรรมนูญให้แก่ประชาชน เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวมีผลทำให้ราชอาณาจักรสยาม เปลี่ยนรูปแบบประเทศ จากระบอบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์ ไปเป็นราชาธิปไตยภายใต้รัฐธรรมนูญ และเปลี่ยนรูปแบบการปกครอง ไปเป็นระบอบประชาธิปไตยแบบรัฐสภา และทำให้ประชาชนชาวสยาม ได้รับรัฐธรรมนูญฉบับแรกมาจนถึงปะจจุบัน
ประเทศไทยปกครองแบบประชาธิปไตยตั้งแต่2475 เป็นต้นมาซึ่งประเทศไทยเปลี่ยนแปลงระบบการปกครองมาแล้ว 81 ปีแต่ยังไม่เป็นไปตามหลักการ มีการปฏิวัติรัฐประหารยึด อำนาจ ตั้งคณะรัฐบาลและกำหนดบทบัญญัติขึ้นเอง ประชาชนไม่มีสิทธิเสรีภาพ ปัจจุบันนักการเมืองก็กำลังมีการรัฐประหารอยู่ทำให้บ้านเมืองยังคงไม่สงบสุขและการเดินประท้วงของประชาชนพึ่งจบไป และผมคิดว่าอีกไม่นานก็จะมีการเดินขบวนประท้วงทำให้บ้านเมืองไม่สงบสุขอีกครั้ง
