วัดตูมเป็นวัดโบราณสร้างก่อนสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา โดยใช้เป็นที่สำหรับลงเครื่องพิชัยสงครามมาแต่ก่อนในสมัยกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ หลังจากคราวเสียกรุงก็กลายเป็นวัดร้างเรื่อยมาจนมาถึงรัชสมัย รัชกาลที่ 1 วัดตูมจึงได้ถูกปฏิสังขรณ์ขึ้นมาอีกครั้ง และเป็นวัดที่พระสงฆ์จำพรรษามาจนทุกวันนี้
วัดนี้เป็นที่เลื่อมใสศรัทธาของพุทธศาสนิกชนที่แห่หลั่งไหลมากราบนมัสการหลวงพ่อทองสุขสัมฤทธิ์ ซึ่งมีลักษณะพิเศษคือ พระเศียรเปิดได้และมีน้ำไหลซึมออกมาตลอดเวลา เป็นที่อัศจรรย์ยิ่ง

หลวงพ่อทองสุขสัมฤทธิ์เป็นพระพุทธรูปสัมฤทธิ์ทรงเครื่องปางมารวิชัย ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “หลวงพ่อสุข” มีขนาดหน้าตักกว้าง 87 ซ.ม. พระทรงเครื่องแบบมหาจักรพรรดิราชาอธิวาสสวมมงกุฎ มีกุณฑลทับทรวง สังวาลพาหุรัดประดับด้วยเนาวรัตน์ ประทับนั่งขัดสมาธิ
