ส่วนการปรับระบบการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานน

ส่วนการปรับระบบการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานนั้น รัฐบาลถือว่าเป็นเรื่องสำคัญ และเป็นเรื่องเร่งด่วนที่ต้องมีการปรับปรุง โดยนายกฯ ได้กำชับให้มีสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน (สพฐ.) รีบดำเนินการเพื่อจะให้เกิดการปฏิรูปที่เป็นรูปธรรมโดยเร็วที่สุด

ทั้งนี้ยุทธศาสตร์ปฏิรูปการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานพ.ศ. 2558-2563 ประกอบด้วย 3 ด้านหลัก คือ ด้านการปฏิรูปการเรียนการสอน, ปฏิรูปการพัฒนาวิชาชีพ, ปฏิรูประบบบริหารจัดการ

สำหรับยุทธศาสตร์เร่งด่วนที่หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องต้องเร่งทำภายในวันที่ 29 มีนาคม 2559 คือ

1. นักเรียนตั้งแต่ชั้นป.1 อ่านออกเขียนได้ โดยการสอนแจกลูกสะกดคำ และการจัดทำสื่อนวัตกรรมการเรียนการสอน

2. การจัดการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานตามทักษะอาชีพโดยเฉพาะในโรงเรียนขยายโอกาส และจัดการเรียนการสอนทักษะอาชีพแบบเต็มระบบในโรงเรียนเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษ 5 จังหวัด

3. การพัฒนาการสอนภาษาอังกฤษระดับการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน เพื่อเตรียมพร้อมเข้าสู่การเป็นประชาคมอาเซียนในปลายปีนี้

4. การผลิตและพัฒนาครู

5. การยกระดับการศึกษาทางไกล

6. พัฒนาคุณลักษณะผู้เรียน
