For the installation of computers and other instrument or electrical equipment with cable
connections at the bottom of the equipment, a cavity floor shall be installed. Particular
attention should be given to preventing water from entering areas below the computer floor.
Typically the concrete subfloor will slope to a sump that is fitted with a moisture alarm.
The reinforced concrete floor and the walls under the cavity floor shall be painted with an
epoxy paint to prevent formation of dust.
Cable passages through the floor from the control room to the basement shall be made of
150 mm diameter plastic pipes. The holes shall have chamfered edges to prevent
damaging of the cables during cable pulling. The same type of cable passages shall also
be made between the computer room and the basement.
Raised floors shall follow the requirements of ICC-ES AC175 when applicable or when
specified by the Principal. Otherwise the provisions below shall be followed.
