It makes us see that God works with animal sacrifices from God back, really. There are two reasons for this:1. We human have a tendency to apply our likes and dislikes to God. So naturally they thought what we like most are desirable to God as well. It resulted they offer the best of what they had to God.2. In the view of the Bible it has a different view. When God asked the ancient Israelis to sacrifice a sheep or what ever it may be God wanted to punish them by making them to sacrifice the best of what they had for the sins they committed. So depending on the grievance of the sin they were asked to sacrifice. But it has meaning only and only when the sacrifice is painful and pinching to the one sacrificing it. When a shepherd sacrifice the best of his sheep or when a farmer sacrifice best of his fruits that is what is happening. 3. But sacrifice has no meaning when it is offered out of your plenty and when you are not concerned about what you are giving. Read Isaiah 1:11-15, you can see God getting angry about the sacrifices they offered to God. This is happening when you do things without considering the spirit of the law behind it.
