การวิจัยนี้ เป็นการศึกษาเรื่อง “การสื่อสารและการรับรู้เกณฑ์คุณภาพการศึกษาเพื่อการดำเนินการที่เป็นเลิศ (EdPEx) : กรณีศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล” โดยศึกษาสภาพการสื่อสารภายในองค์กรตามกรอบแนวคิดจากการศึกษาองค์ประกอบการสื่อสารและศึกษาสภาพการรับรู้โดยมีกรอบแนวคิดจากการศึกษาองค์ประกอบของการรับรู้ เกณฑ์คุณภาพการศึกษาเพื่อการดำเนินการที่เป็นเลิศ (EdPEx) ของบุคลากรมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ คือ พนักงานมหาวิทยาลัย ทั้งสายวิชาการและสายสนับสนุนที่สังกัดหน่วยงานของมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ซึ่งมีจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 39 หน่วยงานข้อมูล ณ วันที่ 30 กันยายน 2557 (กองทรัพยากรบุคคล, 2557) ครอบคลุมทุกระยะการดำเนินงานตามระบบการประกันคุณภาพภายในแต่ละหน่วยงาน ตามเกณฑ์คุณภาพการศึกษาเพื่อการดำเนินการที่เป็นเลิศ (Education Criteria for Performance Excellence - EdPEx) ของมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ซึ่งแบ่งตามระยะการดำเนินงานทั้งหมด 4 ระยะ
ระยะเวลาที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ ช่วงเดือนมกราคม 2557 – เดือนธันวาคม 2558 รวมระยะเวลาที่ใช้ในการวิจัย 2 ปี
