นายกำธร ถาวรสถิตย์ ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดขอนแก่น เปิดเผยว่า งานเทศกาลไหมนานาชาติ ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว และงานกาชาดจังหวัดขอนแก่น ประจำปี 2558 กำหนดจัดงานระหว่างวันที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน - 10ธันวาคม 2558 รวม 12 วัน 12 คืน ณ บริเวณสนามศาลากลางจังหวัดขอนแก่น วัตถุประสงค์ก็เพื่อแสดงเอกลักษณ์ความสวยสดงดงามของลายผ้าไหมของจังหวัดขอนแก่น ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นแหล่งผ้าไหมไทยที่มีมาก และสวยงามที่สุดของประเทศไทย เพื่อยกระดับผ้าไหมของขอนแก่น ให้เป็นที่รู้จักในระดับนานาชาติ เพื่ออนุรักษ์ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว ซึ่งเป็นประเพณีพื้นบ้านที่สืบทอดกันมายาวนานจนเป็นวัฒนธรรมของท้องถิ่นที่แสดงออกถึงความรัก ความผูกพันประดุจเพื่อนรักเพื่อนตายกัน รวมทั้งเผยแพร่ชื่อเสียง แหล่งท่องเที่ยว ของจังหวัดขอนแก่น ให้เป็นที่รู้จักของนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งไทย และต่างประเทศ และเพื่อหารายได้ให้เหล่ากาชาดจังหวัด สำหรับนำไปช่วยเหลือราษฎรที่เดือดร้อนและประสบสาธารณภัยต่าง ๆ งานเทศกาลไหมขอนแก่นก้าวสู่สากล แต่ยังคงอนุรักษ์ศิลปวัฒนธรรมประเพณีของชาวจังหวัดขอนแก่น โดยเฉพาะประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว ที่สืบทอดและอยู่คู่กับจังหวัดขอนแก่น เป็นเอกลักษณ์อย่างหนึ่งของชาวขอนแก่น ให้ความสำคัญจัดให้มีกิจกรรมการผูกเสี่ยว ณ ศาลาผูกเสี่ยวทุกคืน ส่วนในด้านที่พัก ร้านอาหาร ร้านจำหน่ายของฝากของที่ระลึก สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกต่าง ๆ เราก็มีอย่างเพียงพอ และด้านความปลอดภัยในชีวิตและทรัพย์สิน ทางเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจก็ได้มีการ เตรียมการประชุมวางแผนการรักษาความปลอดภัยให้ประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศไว้ รองรับตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง นอกจากนี้จังหวัดขอนแก่น ก็มีสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวอีกหลายแห่งให้ท่านได้ไปท่องเที่ยว สำหรับการเดินทางสู่จังหวัดขอนแก่น ก็มีทั้งรถไฟ รถโดยสารปรับอากาศตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง เครื่องบินวันละหลายสิบเที่ยว ก็ขอเชิญชวนทุกท่านมาเที่ยวงานเทศกาลไหมนานาชาติ ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว และงานกาชาดจังหวัดขอนแก่น ระหว่างวันที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน - 10 ธันวาคม 2558
