ประวัติความเป็นมา อำเภอสากเหล็ก มีทั้งหมดจำนวน ๕ ตำบล คือ ต.สากเหล็ก, ตำบลท่าเยี่ยม,ตำบลคลองทราย ตำบลหนองหญ้าไทร และตำบลวังทับไทร และที่ตำบลวังทับไทรแห่งนี้ พื้นที่ส่วนใหญ่ จะเป็นดินลูกรังเหมาะกับการทำสวนผลไม้คือ มะม่วง และมะปราง( มะยงชิดพันธุ์ไข่ไก่) ซึ่งสามารถจัดทำ เป็นผลผลิตทางด้านการเกษตรให้กับชาวสวนตำบล



วังทับไทร และพื้นที่ตำบลใกล้เคียงได้อย่างดี เพราะ นอกจากจะมีการจัดจำหน่ายผลผลิตดังกล่าวไปยังจังหวัดต่าง ๆ แล้ว ยังได้มีการจัดส่งออกต่างประเทศเป็นการนำรายได้เข้าสู่จังหวัดพิจิตร ดังนั้น เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมให้มีการเพิ่มผลิต และประชาสัมพันธ์ มะม่วง –มะปรางหวานมะยงชิดพันธุ์ไข่ไก่ ของอำเภอสากเหล็ก ให้เป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลายทั่วไป อำเภอสากเหล็ก จึงได้จัดให้มีงานประเพณีวันมะม่วงดัง –มะปรางเด่นของดี อำเภอสากเหล็ก ขึ้น



วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมให้มีการเพิ่มผลิต และประชาสัมพันธ์ งานมะม่วง –มะปรางหวานมะยงชิดพันธุ์ไข่ไก่ ของอำเภอสากเหล็ก ให้เป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลายทั่วไป
