โรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัยสระบุรี เดิมมีชื่อว่า โรงเรียนปากเพรียววิทยาคม สังกัดกรมสามัญศึกษา กระทรวงศึกษาธิการได้ประกาศจัดตั้งขึ้นเมื่อ วันที่ 22 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2537 โดยเปิดสอนระดับมัธยม โดยเปิดเรียนวันแรก ในวันที่ 12 พฤษภาคมพ.ศ. 2537 มีนักเรียนจำนวน 109 คน ครูจำนวน 6 คน มีนายไพบูรย์ เพ็งพูล เป็นผู้บริหารคนแรกและบุกเบิกก่อตั้ง ในระยะแรกอาคารเรียนยังก่อตั้งไม่เสร็จ ได้ขออาศัยวัดสุวรรณคีรี ซึ่งอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามในปัจจุบันเป็นที่ทำการเรียนการสอนนักเรียนอยู่ประมาณ 2 ปีเศษ จึงได้ย้ายมาพื้นที่ปัจจบัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 12 กันยนยน 2539 เป็นต้นมา จนถึงปัจจุบัน โรงเรียนมีอาคารเรียน 3 อาคารต่อมาผู้อำนวยการ จตุรงค์ เกิดปั้น เป็นผู้นำสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงและพัฒนาโรงเรียนครั้งสำคัญ จากโรงเรียนปากเพรียววิทยาคม จากมติที่ประชุมของโรงเรียน ซึ่งดำรงโดยผู้อำนวยการจตุรงค์ เกิดปั้น ได้ดำเนินการ สมาคมศิษย์เก่า และสมาคมครูผู้ปกครอง ในพระบรมราชูปถัมป์ พร้อมด้วยโรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย มีมติให้โรงเรียนปากเพรียววิทยาคม เป็นเครือข่ายของโรงเรียน สวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย ลำดับที่ 8 โดยให้ชื่อว่า " โรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย สระบุรี " ณ วันที่ 6 กุมภาพันธ์ 2549ตั้งแต่นั้น เป็นต้นมา โรงเรียนจึงเปลี่ยนชื่อย่างเป็นทางการว่า โรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย สระบุรี SuanKularb Wittayalai Saraburi โดยผู้อำนวยการ จตุรงค์ เกิดปั้น จนกระทั่งเกษียณอายุราชการเมื่อวันที่ 30 กันยายน 2552 ในปัจจุบันท่านที่ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนสวนกุหลาบวิทยาลัย สระบุรี คือ ท่านผู้อำนวยการธนิต มูลสภา
