1. Assessment เมื่อมีผู้ป่วยเข้ารับการรักษาตัวในโรงพยาบาลอันดับแรกที่เราต้องปฏิบัติคือซักประวัติและตรวจร่างกายผู้ป่วยเพื่อจะได้ทราบว่าผู้ป่วยมาโรงพยาบาลด้วยอาการใด
2. Diagnosis เป็นการนำข้อมูลที่ได้จากการประเมินภาวะสุขภาพมาพิจารณาว่าปัญหาที่ทำให้ผู้ป่วยมาโรงพยาบาลในครั้งนี้คืออะไร
3. Planning เป็นการวางแผนการพยาบาลให้แก่ผู้ป่วย โดยปัญหาที่เสี่ยงต่อภาวะสุขภาพมากที่สุดนับเป็นปัญหาที่สำคัญที่สุดที่ควรแก้ไขเป็นอันดับแรก
4. Implementation เป็นการให้การพยาบาลแก่ผู้ป่วยตามแผนการพยาบาลที่วางไว้ เพื่อให้ผู้ป่วยมีสุขภาพที่ดีขึ้น
5. Evaluation เป็นการประเมินผลหลังให้การพยาบาลผู้ป่วย เพื่อมาวิเคราะห์ภาวะสุขภาพของผู้ป่วยและวางแผนเพื่อให้การพยาบาลต่อไป
จากการนำกระบวนการพยาบาลไปใช้ในการปฏิบัติงาน จะเห็นได้ว่ากระบวนการพยาบาลมีความสำคัญอย่างมากในการให้การพยาบาลผู้ป่วย ช่วยให้การปฏิบัติการพยาบาลมีประสิทธิภาพและครอบคลุมปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นกับผู้ป่วย อีกทั้งยังส่งเสริมให้ฉันมีทักษะในการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณอีกด้วย
