ประวัติพระธาตุเรณู พระธาตุเรณู ประดิษฐานอยู่ ณ วัดธาตุเรณู ตําบลเรณู อําเภอเรญูนคร จังหวัดนครพนม สร้างพ.ศ 2460 ฝ่ายสงฆ์มีท่านอาญาครูอินทร์ เจ้าอาวาส เเละท่านอาญาครูสงฆ์รองเจ้าอาวาสเป็นประธานฝ่ายฆราวาสมีขุนเรณูนิติกร กำนันตำบลเรณูขุนโพนทองธรรมราษฏร กำนันตำบลโพนทองเป็นหัวหน้า ได้ชักชวนชาวบ้านทั้ง 2 ตำบลแสนพันด้วยก่อสร้างพระธาตุขึ้นทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของวัดในปัจจุบัน โดยจำรองรูปทรงมาจากพระธาตุพนมองค์เดิม (องค์ก่อนกรมศิลปากรบูรณะเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2483) ทุกอย่างแต่ขนาดเล็กกว่าเป็นทรงเจดีย์ ฐานสี่เหลี่ยมกว้างด้านละ 8.33 เมตร เท่ากัน ทั้ง 4 ด้าน สูง 35 เมตร สร้างด้วยอิฐถือปูน พระธาตุเรณูเป็นเจดีย์บรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ และพระอรหันตธาตุ พระไตรปิฎก พระพุทธรูปทองคำ พระพุทธรูปเงินเพชรนิลจินดาแก้วแหวนเงินทองหน่องาของมีค่าเจ้าเมืองและประชาชนที่ศรัทธาบริจาค นายช่างผู้ทำการก่อสร้างชื่อ นายเม้า เป็นคนอำเภอท่าอุเทน จังหวัดนครพนม ทำการก่อสร้าง 2 ครั้ง ครั้งแรกก่อด้วยอิฐหนาสองช่วงแผ่นอิฐเสร็จในปี พ.ศ.2561 ยังไม่ทันจะฉลองสมโภชพอถึงเดือน 6 ฝนตกหนักฟ้าผ่าลงที่พระธาตุหักพังทะลายจนหมดสิ้นเป็นที่เศร้าเสียใจกันทั่ว ครั้งที่ 2 ท่านพระครูทั้ง 2 ท่านและท่านขุนทั้ง 2 ที่ออกนามมาแล้วพร้อมด้วยราษฏร ทั้ง 2 ตำบลรวมทั้งชาวตำบลแสนพัน ได้ประชุมเห็นพร้อมกันว่าต้องทำการก่อสร้างพระธาตุขึ้นมาอีกครั้งให้ได้คราวนี้ก่ออิฐหนาให้ได้สี่ช่วงแผ่นอิฐทำการก่อสร้างอยู่ราวปีกว่าก็สำเร็จเรียบร้อยทั้งรูปปั้นลวดลายต่างๆด้วยจึงได้จัดงานฉลองสมโภชในปี พ.ศ. 2463 เป็นปีแรก
