การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจเพื่อศึกษาความปวด
และการจัดการความปวดเรื้อรังของผู้ป่วยที่มีความผิดปกติ
ในระบบกระดูกและกล้ามเนื้อที่ไม่ใช่มะเร็ง กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็น
ผู้ป่วยนอกที่มารับการรักษาที่แผนกศัลยกรรมกระดูกและแผนก
เวชศาสตร์ฟื้นฟู โรงพยาบาลแห่งหนึ่งในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช
การเลือกตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (purposive sampling) จำนวน 100
ราย มีการเก็บข้อมูลตั้งแต่เดือนมิถุนายนถึงเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ.
2548 โดยกำหนดคุณสมบัติ ดังนี้
1. ผู้ป่วยนอกที่มีความปวดเรื้อรัง ซึ่งได้รับการตรวจ
วินิจฉัยจากแพทย์เฉพาะทางสาขาออร์โธปิดิคส์และเวชศาสตร์-
ฟื้นฟูว่าเป็นโรคในระบบกระดูกและกล้ามเนื้อที่ไม่ใช่มะเร็ง
ที่มีอาการปวดนานเกิน 6 เดือน
2. ผู้ป่วยนอกที่มีความปวดเรื้อรังในระบบกระดูก และ
กล้ามเนื้อที่ไม่ใช่มะเร็งทั้งเพศหญิงและเพศชาย ที่มีอายุตั้งแต่
18 ปีขึ้นไป ไม่จำกัดอาชีพ ระดับการศึกษา และรายได้
3. ไม่มีโรคประจำตัวอื่นที่กำลังมีอาการปวด
4. การได้ยินเสียงดี สามารถพูด อ่าน เขียนและเข้าใจ
ภาษาไทย โดยผู้วิจัยเก็บข้อมูลด้วยตนเองทั้งหมด
5. ยินดีที่จะเข้าร่วมโครงการวิจัย
