จะเห็นได้ว่า กระบวนการเรียนรู้ทางสังคม SLP เป็นกระบวนการในการค้นหาปัญหาและแก้ไขปัญหา โดยใช้กระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์เป็นกระบวนการในการแก้ไขปัญหานั่นเอง ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะเช่นเดียวกับกระบวนการวิจัยปฏิบัติการ (Action Research) ซึ่งตามแนวคิดนี้
มีความเชื่อว่า ถ้าประชาชนนำเอากระบวนการแก้ไขปัญหาเหล่านี้ไปใช้แก้ไขปัญหาให้กับตนเอง ครอบครัว หรือชุมชน โดยหาทางเลือกที่เหมาะสมที่จะทำให้ตนเอง หรือชุมชน สามารถดำเนินการแก้ไขปัญหาได้เอง ก็จะเป็นแนวทางนำไปสู่การพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของตนเองและชุมชนได้ด้วยตนเอง
เทคนิคในการศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ชุมชนเหล่านี้ เป็นกรอบแนวคิดที่ผู้วิจัย นักพัฒนา และผู้ที่จะเข้าไปศึกษาชุมชนพึงพิจารณาเพื่อที่จะได้มีความเข้าใจในสภาพของชุมชนในด้านต่างๆ ทั้งด้าน กลุ่ม ผู้นำ ความเป็นอยู่ สภาพทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม วัฒนธรรมประเพณี การเมือง แลระบบต่างๆ ของชุมชนที่เชื่อมโยงกับระบบใหญ่ รวมถึงสภาพปัญหา ความต้องการของชุมชน ทั้งนี้เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการวางแผนร่วมกับชุมชนในการพัฒนาชุมชนต่อไป

Social Media ที่ใช้งานกันในปัจจุบันแบ่งออกเป็นหลายประเภท สรุปเป็นประเภทใหญ่ๆ ที่สามารถนำประยุกต์ใช้ในการจัดการเรียนการสอนแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ประเภท ได้ แก่ 1) Blog 2) Social Networking 3) Microblog 4) Media Sharing และ 5) Social News and Bookmaking โดยมีรายละเอียดดังนี้

Social Networking หรือเครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ เป็นรูปแบบของเว็บไซต์ในการสร้างเครือข่ายสังคมในอินเทอร์เน็ต เพื่อให้ผู้ใช้เขียนและอธิบายความสนใจหรือกิจกรรมที่ทำเพื่อเชื่อมโยงความสนใจและกิจกรรมกับผู้อื่นในเครือข่ายสังคมด้วยการสนทนาออนไลน์ การส่งข้อความ การส่งอีเมล์ การอัปโหลดวิดีโอ เพลง รูปถ่ายเพื่อแบ่งปันกับสมาชิกในสังคมออนไลน์ เป็นต้น เครือข่ายสังคมที่เป็นที่นิยมในปัจจุบัน เช่น Facebook,Hi5, Bebo, MySpace และ Google+ เป็นต้น
