1.3.1.4 ลักษณะการเรียนรู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการริเริ่มภาระงาน ผู้เรียนจะเกิดการเรียนรู้เมื่อมีการริเริ่มภาระงานในลักษณะของการมีความละเอียดถี่ถ้วนในการวางแผนและทำภาระงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย หรือลักษณะของการรู้สึกสนุกและผ่อนคลายกับการทำกิจกรรมทางภาษาและภาระงาน
1.3.1.5 ลักษณะการเรียนรู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการจัดการกับความคิดและมุมมองต่างๆ เป็นการเรียนรู้ที่แสดงว่า ผู้เรียนชอบการคาดเดากฎและความหมายของภาษาใหม่ หรือผู้เรียนต้องการศึกษารายละเอียดของภาษาและหลักไวยากรณ์ก่อนการสรุปหาคำตอบ
1.3.2 กลวิธีการเรียนรู้ (Learning strategies) หมายถึง วิธีการที่ช่วยให้ผู้เรียนเรียนรู้ภาษาได้อย่างถูกต้องหรือเมื่อใช้วิธีการใดๆแล้วมีการเรียนรู้ทางภาษาเกิดขึ้น แบ่งออกเป็น 6 ด้าน ดังนี้
1.3.2.1 กลวิธีที่ใช้ความจำ คือวิธีการที่ช่วยให้ผู้เรียนสามารถเก็บข้อมูลความรู้ไว้และนำออกมาใช้เมื่อต้องการ
1.3.2.2 กลวิธีที่ใช้ความรู้ความเข้าใจ คือวิธีการที่ใช้ความรู้และความเข้าใจเพื่อช่วยในการเรียนรู้ภาษา
1.3.2.3 กลวิธีที่ใช้การเสริมและการทดแทน คือวิธีการที่ผู้เรียนใช้เมื่อมีความรู้ขึ้นใหม่ เช่น การเดาอย่างมีหลักการเพื่อช่วยให้ผู้เรียนเข้าใจในสิ่งที่เรียน หรือการใช้ท่าทางแทนการพูด การปรับสารให้ง่ายขึ้นและการหาคำอื่นมาแทนเพื่อช่วยให้ผู้เรียนสามารถสนทนาหรือเขียนได้ดีขึ้น
