เทศบาลเมืองคูคต เป็นหน่วยการปกครองท้องถิ่นรูปแบบหนึ่ง ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่ตำบลคูคต (เป็นบางส่วน) อำเภอลำลูกกา จังหวัดปทุมธานี ได้รับการยกฐานะจากสุขาภิบาลคูคตขึ้นเป็น เทศบาลเมืองคูคต เมื่อวันที่ 5 พฤษภาคม 2539ตามประกาศในราชกิจจานุเบกษาเล่มที่ 113 ตอนที่ 5 ก ลงวันที่ 6 มีนาคม 2539 โดยมี พันจ่าอากาศเอกประเทือง โลทะกะ เป็นนายกเทศมนตรีคนแรก ดวงตราของเทศบาลเป็นสัญลักษณ์ รูป “อนุสรณ์สถานแห่งชาติ” ในระยะเริ่มแรก สำนักงานเดิม ตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 33/51 ถนนพหลโยธิน–ลำลูกกา จังหวัดปทุมธานี
ต่อมาเมื่อวันที่ 1 สิงหาคม 2538 นางวิลิศ ธนะสิริ และนางวิลาวัณย์ วีรานุวัตติ์ ได้บริจาคที่ดิน จำนวน 9 ไร่ 1 งาน 20 ตารางวา เป็นมูลค่าที่ดินทั้งสิ้น 93 ล้านบาท ให้แก่สุขาภิบาลคูคต เพื่อใช้เป็นสถานที่ก่อสร้างอาคารสำนักงาน
ซึ่งสุขาภิบาลคูคต ได้กู้เงิน กสส. เพื่อก่อสร้างอาคารสำนักงานจำนวน 16,707,000 บาท ตามสัญญา เลขที่ 61/39 ลงวันที่ 22 มกราคม 2539 กำหนดผ่อนชำระ 10 ปี เมื่อได้รับยกฐานะขึ้นเป็นเทศบาล เทศบาลเมืองคูคต ได้กู้เงิน กสท. ตามสัญญาเลขที่ 1472/94/2541 ลงวันที่ 24 กันยายน 2541 เพื่อชำระหนี้เงินกู้ก.ส.ส. ตามสัญญาเลขที่ 61/1/39 โดยผ่อนชำระปีละ 2,059,821.90 บาท
โดยก่อสร้างอาคารสำนักงานใหม่เป็นอาคาร 4 ชั้น ตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 999 หมู่ 18 ตำบลคูคต อำเภอลำลูกกา จังหวัดปทุมธานี และได้ย้ายจากสำนักงานเดิมมาอยู่สำนักงานใหม่ เมื่อวันที่ 1 มีนาคม 2542 จนกระทั่งถึงปัจจุบัน และได้ก่อสร้างอาคาร 4 ชั้น อีกจำนวน 1 หลัง โดยเชื่อมต่อขยายในปีงบประมาณ 2551 ซึ่งในขณะนี้การก่อสร้างได้แล้วเสร็จ เป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว
