คุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร เป็นบุตรของ เรืออากาศตรีวุฒิ บุศราคำ และ นางอุทัย บุศราคำ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 27 มีนาคม พ.ศ.2494 ณ บ้านพักกองบิน 7 อำเภอสัตหีบ จังหวัดชลบุรี ซึ่งมีพี่น้องร่วมบิดามารดา 4 คน ดังนี้
1.นายอภิวัฒน์ บุศราคำ (ถึงแก่กรรม)
2.ร้อยตรีองอาจ บุศราคำ
3.นายวัฒนา บุศราคำ (ถึงแก่กรรม)
4.นางวาสนา ยันต์เสถียร
เมื่อวันที่ 21 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ.2519 ได้สมรสกับนายเจริญสุข ยันต์เสถียร และร่วมกันสร้างครอบครัวจนเป็นปึกแผ่น ซึ่งมีบุตร 2 คน ดังนี้
1.นางสาวจุฑามาส ยันต์เสถียร หัวหน้าแผนกประกันคุณภาพและควบคุมคุณภาพ บริษัท ไอชิน เคมิคอล (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด
2.นางสาวจารุวรรณ ยันต์เสถียร พนักงานบัญชีและการเงิน บริษัท มาสด้า พาวเวอร์เทรน (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด
ด้านอาชีพการงาน คุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี คุรุศาสตร์บัณฑิต สาขาบริหารการศึกษา จากสถาบันมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏ จังหวัดเพชรบุรี และได้ดำรงตำแหน่งหน้าที่ผู้ช่วยอาจารย์ใหญ่ฝ่ายวิชาการ มากกว่า17ปี ณ โรงเรียนกิตติคุณ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ จนกระทั่งปี พ.ศ.2542 มารดาของคุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร ได้ล้มป่วย ณ บ้านชลบุรี คุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร จึงตัดสินใจมาดูแลมารดาของตนด้วยความกตัญญูกตเวที และประกอบอาชีพเข้าเป็นครูสอนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่6 ณ โรงเรียนกาญจนะวิทยา ตำบลมะขามหย่ง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดชลบุรี ซึ่งตลอดระยะเวลาเป็นครูนั้นได้สร้างชื่อเสียง ส่งนักเรียนเข้าแข่งขันทางวิชาการ จนได้รับรางวัลมากมาย อีกทั้งเป็นที่รักของครูและนักเรียนทุกๆคนอีกด้วย
จนกระทั่งปี พ.ศ.2550 คุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร ได้เข้าตรวจร่างกายประจำปีที่โรงพยาบาลชลบุรี ปรากฏว่าตรวจพบชิ้นเนื้อร้ายบริเวณรังไข่ และได้ตัดสินใจลาออกจากอาชีพครู มาเข้าทำการผ่าตัดและรักษาอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลา 7 ปี 6 เดือน ซึ่งตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมาคุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร ไม่เคยแสดงอาการเจ็บปวด เข้มแข็ง ต่อสู้และเป้นขวัญกำลังใจให้กับครอบครัวเสมอมา จนกระทั่ง คืนวันที่10 ตุลาคม พ.ศ.2557 คุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร มีอาการปวดท้องอย่างมาก จึงนำส่งโรงพยาบาลชลบุรี ณ ห้องฉุกเฉิน เวลาประมาณ 21.30น. แพทย์ได้ทำการรักษาและอนุญาติให้กลับบ้านแล้วมาฉีดยาอีกในวันถัดไปตามประสงค์ของคนไข้ และเมื่อกลับมาถึงบ้าน เวลาประมาณ 2.00น.ในวันที่ 11 ตุลาคม พ.ศ.2557 คุณแม่มีอาการอ่อนแรงมาก นอนหายใจแบบไม่รู้สึกตัว จนในวาระสุดท้ายเวลาประมาณ 9.50น. ลมหายใจของคุณแม่วาสนา ยันต์เสถียร ค่อยๆแผ่วเบาลงเรื่อยๆคล้ายอาการคนหลับ จากสามีและบุตรธิดาทั้งสองไปอย่างสงบ….
