Preface

This text has been written in accordance with the course entitled English Syntax 1 (1551105) for English-major students at Buriram Rajabhat University. It is designed to help students understand a particular linguistic theory relating to English syntax.
The text is composed of seven units: The first unit deals with an introduction to syntax. The second unit is about morpheme. The third unit presents content words. The fourth unit is about function words. The fifth unit provides phrase. The sixth unit relates to sentence. And the last unit deals with transformational-generative grammar. Each unit provides students with discussions, examples and exercises respectively.
It is hoped that this text will be useful to teachers who teach the English syntax and students who study this course.
