• ประวัติศาสตร์บาหลี เชื่อกันว่าคนกลุ่มแรกที่เข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานในบาหลีน่าจะอพยพมาจากประเทศจีนเมื่อสมัย 4,500 ปี แต่ไม่มีหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์ใดๆหลงเหลืออยู่ ส่วนหลักฐานเก่าแก่ที่สุดยังปรากฏ เช่น ระบบของการทำเกษตรกรรม และการผลิตข้าว เช่นเดียวกับที่ยังพบเห็นได้ในปัจจุบันมาจากยุคสำริด คือประมาณ 300 ปีก่อนคริสตกาล และมีการพบหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์เป็นโบราณวัตถุทางศาสนาฮินดูจากศตวรรษที่ 3 และ 4 แต่ภายหลังปรากฏว่าศาสนาพุทธได้กลายเป็นศาสนาประจำของชาวบาหลีในยุคแรก เพราะคำว่าบาหลีถูกพบในบันทึกของนักปราชญ์ชาวจีนเมื่อปีคริสตศักราชที่670ว่าขณะเดินทางไปยังอินเดีย ได้แวะยังดินแดนชาวพุทธแห่งหนึ่งซึ่งก็คือบาหลีนั้นเอง
