การวิจัยเชิงสำรวจเรื่อง การจัดการข้อมูล กรณีศึกษาธุรกิจที่พัก มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการจัดเก็บข้อมูลของธุรกิจกลุ่มที่พักและพัฒนาการจัดการข้อมูลให้มีประสิทธิภาพต่อธุรกิจที่พัก โดยทำการเก็บรวบรวมแบบสอบถาม จากกลุ่มตัวอย่างธุรกิจที่พักจำนวน 148 แห่ง ในพื้นที่รัศมี 5 กิโลเมตร รอบมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ตำบลในเมือง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดขอนแก่น ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ข้อมูลด้านราคาของธุรกิจที่พักมีจำนวนเงินลงทุนในธุรกิจที่พัก มากกว่า 10,000,000 บาท อัตราค่าเช่า (รายเดือน) อยู่ที่ราคา 3,001-4,000 บาท จากการวิเคราะห์ด้านการจัดการข้อมูลทั้ง 5 ด้าน ปรากฏว่า 1.ด้านการบริหารข้อมูลที่ดี พบว่าธุรกิจที่พัก มีนโยบายหรือแผนในการจัดการข้อมูล 2.ด้านการจัดการด้านเอกสารและเนื้อหาธุรกิจ พบว่าธุรกิจที่พักมีการกำหนดการดำเนินงานด้านข้อมูลและสารสนเทศว่า ธุรกิจต้องการจัดเก็บข้อมูลอะไร ต้องการสารสนเทศใด เพื่อนำไปใช้ในการบริหารธุรกิจ 3.ด้านการจัดการฐานข้อมูลธุรกิจที่พักพบว่ามีการจัดเก็บข้อมูลอย่างเป็นระบบในรูปแบบเอกสาร แฟ้มกระดาษ 4.ด้านความปลอดภัยของข้อมูลพบว่าธุรกิจที่พักไม่มีการคำนึงถึงการจัดการด้านความปลอดภัยของข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ของธุรกิจ และ 5.ด้านการจัดการด้านคุณภาพข้อมูลพบว่าธุรกิจที่พักได้ให้ความสำคัญกับคุณภาพพื้นฐานของข้อมูลที่ดี ดังนี้ 1. การให้ความสำคัญกับความถูกต้องของข้อมูล , 2. การให้ความสำคัญกับความความครบถ้วนและสมบูรณ์ของข้อมูล, 3. การให้ความสำคัญกับความสอดคล้องของข้อมูล , 4. การให้ความสำคัญกับความรวดเร็วและทันต่อเวลาในการเรียกใช้ข้อมูล และ 5 .การให้ความสำคัญกับความกะทัดรัดของข้อมูล ดังนั้นเมื่อธุรกิจที่พักมีการวางแผนการจัดการข้อมูลหรือนโยบายเกี่ยวกับการจัดการข้อมูลที่มีประสิทธิภาพ ย่อมส่งผลให้องค์กรมีความได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันในธุรกิจ
