เราะมะฎอน หรือสะกด รอมะฏอน หรือ รอม

เราะมะฎอน หรือสะกด รอมะฏอน หรือ รอมฎอน คือเดือนที่ 9 ของปฏิทินฮิจญ์เราะฮ์หรือปฏิทินอิสลาม เป็นเดือนที่มุสลิมถือศีลอดทั้งเดือน ด้วยเหตุนี้จึงเรียกกันอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า เดือนบวช และถือว่าเป็นเดือนที่สำคัญที่สุดเดือนหนึ่ง มุสลิมจะต้องอดอาหารเพื่อที่จะได้มีความรู้สึกถึงคนที่ไม่ได้รับการดูแลจากสังคม เช่น คนยากจน เป็นต้น และเดือนนี้ยังเป็นเดือนที่อัลกรุอานได้ถูกประทานลงมาเป็นทางนำให้กับมนุษย์ มุสลิมจึงต้องอ่านอัลกุรอาน เพื่อศึกษาถึงสิ่งที่พระเจ้าต้องการให้มนุษย์รู้ว่าการเป็นอยู่ในโลกนี้และโลกหน้าจะเป้นอย่างไร และจะต้องทำตัวอย่างไรบ้าง กิจกรรมพิเศษของมุสลิมนิกายซุนนะหฺคือการละหมาดตะรอเวียะฮ์ในยามค่ำของเดือนนี้

เมื่อสิ้นเดือนเราะมะฎอนแล้ว จะมีการเฉลิมฉลองในวันที่ 1 เดือนเชาวาล เรียกว่า อีดุลฟิฏริหรือวันอีดเล็ก
