การวิจัยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาลวดลาย ผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ อําเภอชนบท จังหวัดขอนแก่น ศึกษาเกี่ยวกับลวดลายผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ ประวัติ โครงสร้างของลวดลายผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ แนวความคิดในการออกแบบ ได้กําหนดขอบเขตของการวิจัย และเป็นไปตามวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยที่ได้กําหนดไว้ ประกอบด้วย (1) เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะลวดลายผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ อําเภอชนบท จังหวัดขอนแก่น ประชากรและกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ศึกษา ได้แก่ ลวดลายผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ อําเภอ ชนบท จังหวัดขอนแก่น กลุ่มประชากรที่เป็นผู้ให้ข้อมูลด้านการศึกษาลักษณ์ลวดลาย ประกอบด้วยกลุ่มชาวบ้านทอ ผ้า อําเภอชนบท จังหวัดขอนแก่น จํานวน 30 คน และบุคลทั่วไป จำนวน 20 คน เครื่องมือวิจัยที่ใช้ ได้แก่ แบบสอบถาม (2) เพื่อออกแบบลวดลายผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ ประชากรและกลุ่มตัวอย่าง ผู้วิจัยใช้กลุ่มผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการออกแบบลวดลาย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ได้แก่ แบบสอบถาม ประกอบด้วยข้อมูลด้านรูปแบบและลวดลาย ค่าสีที่ใช้ในการออกแบบ รูปร่าง รูปทรง (3) เพื่อพัฒนาลวดลายนําลวดลายกราฟิกบนผ้าไหมมัดหมี่มาใช้เป็นต้นแบบในการออกแบบ (4) ประเมินความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้ผลิตภัณฑ์ ประชากรที่ใช้ใน การศึกษา ผู้วิจัยใช้กลุ่มประชากรเป็นกลุ่มตัวอย่างโดยกําหนดให้เป็นกลุ่มผู้ใช้ผ้าไหมมัดหมี่ 30 คน บุคลทั่วไป 20 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ได้แก่ แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจ
ผลการนําลวดลายกราฟิกบนผ้าไหมมัดหมี่มาใช้เป็นต้นแบบ ในการออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ต้นแบบผ้าซิ่น ที่มีความพึ่งพอใจของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม พึ่งพอใจมากที่สุด 5 ลำดับ มาทอเป็นผืนผ้าซิ่น มีความแปลกใหม่ แสดงความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของลวดลายและเทคนิคได้อย่างชัดเจน
