ลักษณะ : ไม้ยืนต้น สูง 10-15 เมตร ใบประกอบแบบขนนก เรียงสลับใบย่อยรูปขอบขนาน กว้างประมาณ 1.5 ซม. ยาว 4 ซม. ใบอ่อนมีขนสีน้ำตาลแกมเขียว ดอกช่อ ออกที่ปลายกิ่ง กลีบดอกสีเหลือง ผลเป็นฝักแบนยาวและหนา
ประโยชน์ทางสมุนไพร : ตำรายาไทยใช้ดอกเป็นยานอนหลับ ลดความดันโลหิตดอกตูมและใบอ่อนเป็นยาระบาย ใบแก้ระดูขาว แก้นิ่ว ขับปัสสาวะ แก่นแก้ไข้ ทำให้นอนหลับ รักษากามโรค ใบอ่อนและแก่นมีสารกลุ่มแอนทราควิโนนหลายชนิด จึงมีฤทธิ์เป็นยาระบายใช้ใบอ่อนครั้งละ 2-3 กำมือ ต้มกับน้ำ 1-1.5 ถ้วย เติมเกลือเล็กน้อย ดื่มก่อนอาหารเช้าครั้งเดียว นอกจากนี้ในใบอ่อนและดอกตูมยังพบสารซึ่งมีฤทธิ์กดประสาทส่วนกลางทำให้นอนหลับโดยใช้วิธีดองเหล้าดื่มก่อนนอน
