รูปปั้นครึ่งตัวของโทลคีนที่อ๊อกซฟอร์ด
สมาคมโทลคีน (Tolkien Society) ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2512[45] ภาควิชาภาษาอังกฤษแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยอ๊อกซฟอร์ดได้ สร้างรูปปั้นครึ่งตัวของโทลคีนไว้เป็นอนุสรณ์ ทุกๆ ปี เมื่อสมาคมโทลคีนจัดการประชุมทางวิชาการ จะมีการเปิดรับบทความวิชาการและการประชุมสัมมนาเกี่ยวกับผลงานของโทลคีนและ งานที่เกี่ยวข้อง จัดการประชุมที่มหาวิทยาลัยอ๊อกซฟอร์ด โดยมีรูปปั้นครึ่งตัวนี้ร่วมการประชุมด้วย กิจกรรมสำคัญอีกประการหนึ่งของสมาคมคือ "Tolkien Birthday Toast" ซึ่งเป็นการจัดงานวันเกิดให้โทลคีนในวันที่ 3 มกราคม ของทุกปี สมาชิกทั่วโลกจะดื่มอวยพรวันเกิดให้แก่โทลคีน และลงนามในเว็บไซต์ของสมาคม
