ดอกกระเจียว" มีชื่อเรียกหลายชื่ออาทิเช่น บัวสวรรค์ ปทุมมา ขมิ้นโคก แต่ชาวต่างชาตินิยมเรียกว่า ทิวลิปสยาม (Siam Tulip) เป็นพืชในตระกูลขมิ้น และได้รับการขนานนามว่าเป็น "ราชินีแห่งป่าฝน" เพราะจะผลิดอกบานเฉพาะเมื่อถึงฤดูฝนเท่านั้น ความสูงของต้นประมาณ 2 ฟุต มีดอกหลายสี เช่น ชมพู ม่วง ส้ม ขาว นอกจากจะใช้ประโยชน์ในการเป็นไม้ประดับสวยงามแล้ว ยังสามารถนำดอกอ่อนมาต้มทานกับน้ำพริก หรือนำไปชุบแป้งทอดก็ได้เช่นกัน
สำหรับงานเทศกาลท่องเที่ยวดอกกระเจียวบานในปีนี้ จะจัดขึ้นในช่วงวันที่ 1 มิถุนายน ถึง 31สิงหาคม 2558 โดยมีสถานที่จัดงานสองแห่ง คือ อุทยานแห่งชาติป่าหินงาม อำเภอเทพสถิต และ อุทยานแห่งชาติไทรทอง อำเภอหนองบัวระเหว ทั้งสองแห่งนี้อยู่ในเขตจังหวัดชัยภูมิ
การเดินทาง
รถยนต์ส่วนตัว หรือเช่ารถ ขับจากกรุงเทพผ่านจังหวัดสระบุรี ขับตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 21 เข้าสู่ตำบลชัยนารายณ์ ตามทางหลวงหมายเลข 205 เข้าสู่ตำบลบ้านไร่ จากนั้น ตามป้ายบอกทางเข้าสู่อุทยานแห่งชาติป่าหินงาม รวมระยะทางประมาณ 290 กิโลเมตร แต่ถ้าต้องการไปยังอุทยานแห่งชาติไทรทอง ก็สามารถขับจากอุทยานแห่งชาติป่าหินงามต่อไปได้อีกประมาณ 50 กิโลเมตร แต่เส้นทางอาจจะคดเคี้ยวบ้าง ควรเตรียมอุปกรณ์นำทางไปด้วย
รถโดยสารประจำทาง ขึ้นรถที่สถานีขนส่งหมอชิต 2 สายกรุงเทพ-ชัยภูมิ หมายเลข 9099 ผ่านอำเภอเทพสถิต ลงปลายทางที่สามแยกบ้านไร่ จากนั้น ต่อรถโดยสารประจำทางไปยังอุทยานแห่งชาติป่าหินงามอีก 18 กิโลเมตร ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 4.5 ชั่วโมง
