สหพันธ์ฟุตบอลแห่งเอเชีย
ในทวีปเอเชียมีการจัดตั้งสหพันธ์ฟุตบอลแห่งเอเอเชีย (A.F.C.) เพื่อดำเนินการด้านฟุตบอล ดังนี้
พ.ศ. 2495 มีการแข่งขันกีฬาโอลิมปิกที่เฮลซิงกิ ประเทศฟินแลนด์ โดยมีนักกีฬาและเจ้าหน้าที่จากประเทศในเอเชียเข้ามาร่วมการแข่งขันด้วย จึงได้ปรึกษาหารือกันในการจัดตั้งสหพันธ์ฟุตบอลเอเชียขึ้น
พ.ศ. 2497 มีการแข่งขันเอเชียนเกมส์ที่กรุงมะนิลา ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ก็ได้เริ่มตั้งคณะกรรมการจากชาติต่างๆ ที่เข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิก 12 ประเทศ
พ.ศ. 2501 มีการแข่งขันกีฬาเอเชียนเกมส์ที่ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ได้มีการประชุมเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้อีก และมีประเทศเข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิกรวมเป็น 35 ประเทศ

พ.ศ. 2519 มีการประชุมกันที่ประเทศมาเลเซีย ปรากฏว่าประเทศสมาชิกได้ลงมติให้ขับไล่ประเทศไต้หวันออกจากสมาชิก และให้รับจีนแดงเข้ามาเป็นสมาชิกแทน ทั้งๆ ที่ไต้หวันเป็นประเทศที่ร่วมกันก่อตั้งสหพันธ์ขึ้นมา]
