ร่างรัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทยฉบับใหม่ เดินหน้ามาเกือบถึงปลายทางแล้ว ซึ่งประชาชนต่างเฝ้ารอดูว่ากติกาการปกครองประเทศฉบับใหม่นี้ จะพลิกโฉมประเทศให้เปลี่ยนแปลงไปในทิศทางใด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโครงสร้างการเมือง สังคม เศรษฐกิจ คุณภาพชีวิตความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคม และที่สำคัญจะช่วยลดปัญหาความขัดแย้งทางการเมืองได้หรือไม่

ทั้งนี้จะกำหนดให้ประชาชนมีส่วนร่วมในการตัดสินใจแก้ปัญหาในพื้นที่อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ แต่ขอบเขตและขั้นตอนการให้ประชาชนมีส่วนร่วมอย่างไร รัฐธรรมนูญที่กำลังร่างอยู่นี้ได้กำหนดหน้าที่การทำงานของท้องถิ่นอย่างชัดเจนมากขึ้น รวมทั้งการยกฐานะของข้าราชการและพนักงานส่วนท้องถิ่นให้ทัดเทียมกับข้าราชการในส่วนอื่น ๆ
