การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบพฤติกรรมและผลกระทบการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ของนักศึกษาคณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีคณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2558 จำนวน 297 คน ซึ่งได้มาจากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบแบ่งชั้นภูมิตามสัดส่วน (Proportional Stratified Random Sampling) ของนิสิตในแต่ละชั้นปี และใช้วิธีเลือกตัวอย่างแบบง่ายด้วยวิธีสุ่ม (Simple Random Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถามมีลักษณะเป็นมาตราส่วนประมาณค่า 5 ระดับ ประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามพฤติกรรมการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ จำนวน 20 ข้อ มีค่าความเชื่อถือได้เท่ากับ 0.87 และ แบบสอบถามผลกระทบการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ จำนวน 21 ข้อ มีค่าความเชื่อถือได้เท่ากับ 0.85 การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบค่าที (t-test Independent Sample) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) นักศึกษามีพฤติกรรมการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ โดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก 2) ผลกระทบการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ โดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง 3) นักศึกษาที่มีระดับปีการศึกษาต่างกันมีพฤติกรรมการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ ด้านวิชาการ ด้านการสื่อสารและด้านการบันเทิง ภาพรวมแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 4) นักศึกษาที่มีระดับปีการศึกษาต่างกัน มีผลกระทบการใช้เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ ทั้งภาพรวมและรายด้าน ไม่แตกต่างกัน
