งานเทศกาลไหมนานาชาติ ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว และงานกาชาดจังหวัดขอนแก่น จัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปี ในช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายน-เดือนธันวาคม โดยในปีนี้ได้จัดขึ้นในวันที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน - 10 ธันวาคม ที่หน้าสนามหน้าศาลากลางจังหวัดขอนแก่น และในวันศุกร์ที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน ได้มีการจัดการเดินขบวนแห่รอบเมือง และมีพิธีเปิดอย่างเป็นทางการขึ้น ขบวนงานเทศกาลไหมที่จัดขึ้นนี้มีหน่วยงานราชการและโรงเรียนต่างๆในจังหวัดขอนแก่นร่วมกันจัดขึ้น ทางโรงเรียนขอนแก่นวิทยายนของเราได้ร่วมในขบวนแห่ครั้งนี้ด้วย โดยนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4/6 ได้รับมอบหมายให้มีหน้าที่ดูแลขบวนแห่และนางรำ เราได้แบ่งหน้าที่กันโดยแยกกันออกเป็นส่วนๆในการจัดการดูแลงานต่างๆ ดิฉันได้อยู่ในกลุ่มผู้ดูแลขบวนแห่ มีหน้าที่คอยดูแลผู้ที่เดินอยู่ในขบวน โดยเฉพาะเหล่านางรำทั้งหลาย ขบวนแห่ในครั้งนี้ได้เริ่มเดินขบวนในเวลา 11.30 นาฬิกา ขบวนแห่ของทางโรงเรียนขอนแก่นวิทยายนจะมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน และวัฒนธรรมเกี่ยวกับการผูกเสี่ยวของจังหวัดขอนแก่น โดยมีผู้บรรยายขบวนอยู่เป็นระยะๆเพื่อให้ความรู้แก่ผู้ชมขบวนและมีการแสดงรำที่แสดงออกถึงประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนและประเทศสมาชิก โดยมีจุดชมการแสดงอยู่ 2 จุด คือบริเวณหน้าโรงเรียนขอนแก่นวิทยายนและสนามหน้าศาลากลางจังหวัดขอนแก่น ขบวนแห่งานเทศกาลไหมในครั้งนี้มีความสวยงามอลังการ และเต็มไปด้วยความรู้เกี่ยวกับการผูกเสี่ยว ทุกขบวนจะมีความสวยงามแตกต่างกันออกไป เทศกาลไหมจึงจัดเป็นเทศกาลที่ยิ่งใหญ่ของจังหวัดขอนแก่น และถือเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของจังหวัดของเรานั่นเอง
