การศึกษาสูตรอาหารที่เหมาะสมต่อการเลี้ยงจิ้งหรีด และการวางไข่ของ จิ้งหรีดทองดำ (Gryllus bimaculatus) ในดินชนิดต่างๆ โดยการวางแผนการทดลองแบบสุ่มสมบูรณ์ (Completely Randomized Design : CRD) การทดลองให้อาหารมี 3 กรรมวิธี (treatment) ได้แก่ กรรมวิธีที่ 1 อาหารไก่เล็ก กรรมวิธีที่ 2 อาหารไก่ผสมไข่แดง และกรรมวิธีที่ 3 อาหารไก่เล็กผสมปลาป่น และการทดลอบดินที่ใช้วางไข่ มี 3 กรรมวิธี คือ กรรมวิธีที่ 1 ดินปลูก (ควบคุม) กรรมวิธีที่ 2 ดินขุยไผ่ และ กรรมวิธีที่ 3 ดินใบก้ามปู ระหว่างวันที่ 28 พฤศจิกายน 2558 สิ้นสุดการทดลองเมื่อวันที่ 15 มีนาคม 2559
จากการศึกษาการให้อาหาร พบว่า กรรมวิธีที่ 2 อาหารไก่เล็กผสมไข่แดง จิ้งหรีดมีขนาดน้ำหนักตัวสูงที่สุด เฉลี่ย เท่ากับ 1.20 กรัม รองลงมาคือ กรรวิธีที่ 3 อาหารไก่ผสมปลาป่น และกรรมวิธีที่ 1อาหารไก่เล็ก มีขนาดน้ำหนักตัวเฉลี่ย เท่ากับ 1.04 และ 0.93 กรัม ซึ่งไม่มีความแตกต่างทางสถิติ ศึกษาการวางไข่ในดินชนิดต่าง ๆ พบว่า กรรมวิธีที่ 1 ดินปลูก จิ้งหรีดมีอัตราการวางไข่สูงสุดทั้ง 5 สัปดาห์ เฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 1216.5 ฟอง รองลงมาคือกรรมวิธีที่ 3 ดินใบก้ามปู และกรรมวิธีที่ 2 ดินขุยไผ่ มีอัตราการวางไข่เฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 347.67 ฟอง และ 263.83 ฟอง ตามลำดับ ซึ่งมีความแตกต่างทางสถิติอย่างมีนัยสำคัญที่ระดับ 95 เปอร์เซ็น และ 99 เปอร์เซ็น จิ้งหรีดเพศเมียหนึ่งตัว สามารถวางไข่ได้สูงถึง 1,216.5 ฟองต่อตัว เหมาะสมต่อการแนะนำเกษตรเพาะเลี้ยงต่อไป
