ลักษณะ
พระธาตุภูเพ็ก เป็นปราสาทขอมขนาดใหญ่ ก่อสร้างด้วยหินทราย เรือนธาตุตั้งอยู่บนฐานยกสูง ตอนหน้าของปราสาทมีฐานหินเป็นก้อนเรียงซ้อน ๆ กัน ยื่นออกคล้ายกากบาท เรียกว่า โคปุระ สูงกว่าฐานของเรือนฐานเล็กน้อย ตัวเรือนธาตุทั้งสี่ด้านย่อมุม ๆ ละ ๕ เหลี่ยม รวมเป็น ๒๐ เหลี่ยม ความกว้างของปราสาทโดยรอบกว้างด้านละ ๑๑ เมตร มีชานเป็นพื้นที่กว้างพอสมควร ความสูงจากพื้นดินถึงฐานชั้นที่ ๑ สูง ๑.๕๘ เมตร จากฐานชั้นที่ ๑ ถึงฐานชั้นที่ ๒ สูง .๗๐ เมตร ตัวเรือนปราสาททั้ง ๓ ด้าน คือ ทิศเหนือ ทิศใต้ และทิศตะวันตก บริเวณโดยรอบพบสระน้ำโบราณและแหล่งสกัดหินในการสร้างปราสาท หน้าอาคารปราสาทหันไปทางทิศตะวันออกและมีบันไดหินก่อปูนขึ้นบนยอดเขาประมาณ 491 ขั้น ตามตำนานสันนิษฐานว่าสร้างขึ้นสมัยเดียวกับพระธาตุนารายณ์เจงเวง
