ปี 2537 ซื้อกิจการกลุ่มโรงแรมอิมพีเรียล ที่มีโรงแรมในเครือจำนวนมากจากนายอากร ฮุนตระกูล และจากนั้น ”เจ้าสัวเจริญ” ก็ขยายธุรกิจอย่างไม่เคยหยุดยั้ง จนกระทั่งถึงปัจจุบัน โดยมีทายาท 5 คน พร้อมสานต่อ คือ อาทิ นันท์ วัลลภา ฐาปน ฐาปนี และปณต
