หลวงพ่อเขียน มีนามเดิมว่า เสถียร จันทร์แสง เกิดเมื่อ วันเสาร์ เดือน 4 ปีขาล ตรงกับ พ.ศ. 2399 ที่บ้านตลิ่งชัน ตำบลชอนไพร อำเภอเมือง จังหวัด เพชรบูรณ์ โยมบิดา-มารดา ชื่อ นายทอง และนางปลิด จันทร์แสง มีพี่น้องร่วมท้อง 5 คน ท่านเป็นคนที่ 3
