พระราชกรณียกิจของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรม

พระราชกรณียกิจของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช นับตั้งแต่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชเสด็จขึ้นครองราชสมบัติเป็นประมุขแห่งประเทศไทย เป็นต้นมา พระองค์ได้ทรงประกอบพระราชกรณียกิจในด้านต่าง ๆ อันเป็นประโยชน์แก่ชาวไทยตลอดพระชนมายุของพระองค์ โดยพระราชกรณียกิจที่สำคัญของพระองค์ คือ การเสด็จพระราชดำเนินเยือนประชาชนในท้องถิ่นต่าง ๆ ของประเทศ ดังในปฐมพระบรมราชโองการในระหว่างพระราชพิธีบรมราชาภิเษก เมื่อวันที่ 5 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2493 ว่า เราจะครองแผ่นดินโดยธรรม เพื่อประโยชน์สุขแก่มหาชนชาวสยาม

ในปี พ.ศ. 2539 จากการที่พระองค์ทรงงานเพื่อประชาชนอย่างหนัก จึงได้มีการลงนามโดยประชาชนชาวไทยเพื่อถวายสมัญญานามให้ทรงเป็น "มหาราช"[1]
